What Is the Potomac Valley District of the AAU?

The Potomac Valley District of the A.A.U. was first organized on October 15, 1929. The Potomac Valley District was re-aligned December 1968. It was formerly the District of Columbia District; it was renamed December 1972.

Management of the Potomac Valley District
The Potomac Valley District has a “Board of Managers” that is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of all the different sports in the Potomac Valley District, including all aspects of individual sports organizations and individuals that are members of the Potomac Valley District.

Sports Committees of the Potomac Valley District
If a sport has enough member clubs, the Potomac Valley District may create a "Sports Committee" to more directly manage the affairs of that sport. Such a Sports Committee is still subject to the oversight of the Potomac Valley Board of Managers, subject to the provisions of the 2008 AAU Codebook.

Dear AAU Members and Guests,
I want to take this opportunity to thank our members for staying with us and extend a warm welcome to our newest members!
We have endured more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has brought many challenges and roadblocks, but we stand strong. We have a mission to serve the community. We are a multi-sport organization, working together to promote and develop amateur sports, our athletes and physical fitness programs. I strongly believe who we are is based not only on what we do but how we do it. We do not know what the future will bring, but we do know that PVAAU must focus and respond in new and agile ways to keep our members and communities engaged and look for ways where we can make a difference.
